On Friday 15th February 2019, we held our 101st celebration, at the Mitcham community centre. We all gathered in another notorious gathering, of music, arts and Arka Dhyana. The night was a warm event, with many smiling faces, and great young performers, students of Yogasunthary Rohan, from the school of Bruntha Gana Isai Nadanalayam..

After listening to some inspirational music, the programme started off with a lovely vocal performance/thervarum by Yatheka Mayuran, which we all enjoyed immensely. Next a great violin recital by Nithusha Shankar, and Angarl Parnmasri, it was great to see cultural music this evening. After this, Shahana Thayanithy, Sabina Algaratnam and Manusha Ravindrathas, sang. I think we are incredibly lucky to have a platform such as AMG UK where we can appreciate such talented singers. Finally, we had Bauithiran Jeyagoban playing the veena and Kobi Jeyagobam who played the miruthangam.

A special thanks to Mrs Rohan, the wonderful teacher of all the students. We also wish a happy belated birthday to her, it was on the night and it was truly a day to remember. We all sang happy birthday, to her, and took many lovely pictures and plenty of speeches were presented of how lucky we are to have a chance to broadcast this celebration where anyone, from anywhere, can come and have a  platform to show their talents where they will be appreciated by many.

It was a truly great atmosphere during this celebration. To encourage self-awareness, we practised the art of Arka Dhyana, courtesy of our founder, Srinivas Arka. Arka Dhyana is a form of meditation to increase self-awareness and positive thinking. This had a really calming effect on the night, and it ended with feeling very awake, fresh and aware of my surroundings.

Our next celebration will be on the 15th March 2019, I hope to see you all there and have more of the lovely young artists we got to see today.
